The Lion is considered the 'king of the jungle'. They are the second largest 'large cat' mammal. The Lion is the top predator in their natural habitat, which is slowly shrinking to smaller regions.

As mentioned above, the Lion is the second largest in the cat family, with only the tiger being larger. Lions are easy to distinguish between male and female, with the male having a large mane, as seen in the picture above. At one time, lions were found in the wild all throughout Africa, but are now only found in certain regions. They are also found in India, but only in Sasan-Gir National Park.
