Fathead Minnows are closely related to bluntnose minnows. Fathead Minnows, however, have a dark spot on the front and/or back of their dorsal fin.

Distribution: North America Lifespan: 2 years

Fathead Minnows are commonly used for fishing bait. For this reason they have been introduced all over North America. They tend to be quite abundant in common fishing areas due to their ability to tolerate a variety of water conditions. They feed on zooplankton and small insects.
