European Beaver

Animals Home > Mammals
During the 16th century the European Beaver was hunted to extinction in Britain.

Latin Name: Castor fiber
Distribution: Europe and Scandinavia
The amount of European Beavers in the wild has been increasing in recent years due to conservation efforts. At one point there could be found all over the Northern Hemisphere excluding north Asia. However, due to extensive hunting they can now only be found in select parts of Europe and Scandinavia.
