There are no other whales in the
world that spend their entire lives in the Arctic waters and
do not migrate further south for the winter. Before the winter
hits they do migrate slightly south but only far enough to avoid
the ice caps. This obviously has made the Bowhead Whale adapt
to the frigid waters of the north. Bowhead Whale numbers have
significantly declied to to over-hunting as they are slow moving
whales which make them prime targets of whale hunters.
