The Blue Whale is the largest
animal on the planet, and as such, the largest member of the
baleen whale family of mammals. It is related to the Humpback
Whale and the Grey Whale to name a couple. No one knows if
the population of Blue Whales have increased
or decreased since the ban of whaling. Fairly recent studies
(2002) estimate there are currently between 5000 to 12000
Blue Whales worldwide, living in 5 distinct groups. |
